As plus-size men, body shaming can be one of the most heart-breaking issues we have to deal with every single day of our lives. At a time where the media portrays being skinny as the only acceptable way to be happy – let alone to deserve to be loved – I decided to tell another story.

In my 4 years as a blogger, I met wonderful plus-size influencers from around the globe, each of which shines in their own way – always because of their talent, not their waist number.

With them, I had the most interesting conversations and we’re dying to share these moments with you. Every week in November, discover a new plus-size blogger on www.sashdesigns.com but today, let me introduce Kavah King

About you

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself?
To tell you about myself comes across a bit pretentious.
Just know I work hard and definitely advocate for all men of size.

2. How would you describe your personal style?
My personal style is broad at times, but I love to keep it basic. I love a hooded sweatshirt which turns about to be the the uniform for men of size.

3. Who was your first style icon and why?
My first style icon is the Notorious B.I.G. I loved that he was a man of size, but still wore many luxury or “designer” brands. So, he is a definite trail blazer. Then there are men like 2 Chainz, Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony. I draw inspiration from many places.

4. What are the challenges you face while shopping?
A challenge that I face while shopping is finding clothes that fit! Some brands the arms are too short, or the midsection is too short. My body shape is definitely weird.

5. What is the one item you would always tend to buy?
I will always buy a hooded sweatshirt. In fact, any article of clothing with a hood is something that I tend to purchase.

6. Which trend do you think doesn’t match plus-size men?
Since style are expressions of life, I cant say that there is a style that “doesn’t match.” Certain styles don’t speak for me and I am absolutely fine with that.

7. Which trend do you dislike the most – in general – for men or women?
Styles are expressions of life, so I may not like a particular style, but I don’t knock anyone.

8. What is the main message you always want to deliver when you communicate with people?
The main message that I want to deliver to people is that you should be yourself. The world is huge enough for different styles and flavors. It’s easier to be yourself.

The game of faves

1. Celebrity crush?
My celebrity crushes are Jill Scott and Andrea-Rachel Parker. As of now, they do it for me!

2. Favorite Quote?
I don’t have a favorite quote, I have favorites quotes. But, I will choose one:
“Content not thyself with satisfaction, but always strive for perfection. Mark the man of integrity and behold the upright for the end of that man is peace.

3. Favorite color?
My favorite color is black.

4. Favorite brand or designer?
There are too many to name!

5. Favorite food?
My favorite food are pineapples.

6. Jeans or Chinos?
Both! I cant decide between the two. So, it depends on the outfit.

On being an influencer…

1. You have been on social media for quite some time, during this period how much changed from your point of view?
There is so much that has changed. In many cases originality is lacking. Its like everyone follows the trends. At one point there was so much diversity, now it’s like everyone follows each other.

2. And what would you change if it was up to you?
I would make it so that we were more original, we could celebrate individuality. That would be incredibly awesome for me. I love to hear and read about different walks of life. I love to learn about people that share their walks of life.

3. What is one thing your readers would be surprised to hear about you?
My readers would be surprised to know that I am music junkie. I love all types of music and listen as often as I can. Music can speak for me when I don’t have the right words to express myself.

Any advice you would give for sashdesigns.com readers?
The advice I would give to the readers is for everyone to love themselves and be themselves!
